As I watch the Dartmouth ferry plying to and fro
It’s designed to cross the Dart with nowhere else to go!
Some might think it boring, repetitive and dull
As it crosses over, cars within it’s hull.
It fulfils it’s purpose the reason it is there
It has not the wherewithal for travelling elsewhere.
Some may think their lives are dull and may long for change
And they will think this homily is really rather strange!
We have got a purpose, a reason we are here
They to many of us it may not be clear.
Our maker has designed us to be just where we are
And in our present calling we can be a star.
We can accomplish many things by doing what we do
And can show God’s love to all as it comes shining through.
