A loved one’s pain
I’d rather be in agony than watch a loved one’s pain
To see the torture on their face goes straight into my brain!
I feel so ruddy helpless as I listen to their sighs
When all that I can manage is to love and sympathise!
I can see them being brave and trying not to share
All the pain they’re going through. It is too much to bear.
And all the time this little prayer is running through my head
“Take the pain away from them. Give it me instead!”
