When Jesus said "I am the vine
And you're the branches too."
He really meant that "You are mine
And here's what you should do.
Look to me as your support
And nourishment as well.
Your backbone and your comfort
Against the powers of hell.
You have the greenery to show
That we are both living
So that everyone can know
Our loving and our giving.
You should produce abundantly
The fruit that gives new hope
To those who are prepared to see
Though now they cannot cope.
I'm rooted in the Father's love
Which he wants to share.
The glorious gift of God above
To people everywhere."
So go around your neighbourhood
Spreading love to all.
Doing things for other's good
In answer to God's call!
The vine has many branches
Of which you are but one
But always take your chances
To see God's work is done.
