The Fellowship
Snug within our fellowship, we watch the world go by
We welcome all to join us with numbers growing high.
The teaching and the worship are clearly God inspired
And after every service we ought to all be fired!
The church attracts new members and we feel we are too small
Surely we should purchase a bigger mission hall?
But when we look around us we can plainly see
Other local churches as empty as can be!
Have we really added to our father’s chosen few
Or poaching folk from other flocks may just be what we do.
Should we return the favour and go and stir them up
Instead of draining all their folk we might just fill their
cup?
Snug within our fellowship, we watch the world go by
We pray for those less fortunate and give a hefty sigh
The teaching and the worship are clearly God inspired
So much so that more of it is all that we’ve desired
We study in our home groups and in the service too
When do you think we’ll know enough to go out and “do”?
Lots of people suffer even in our town
The cost of things is going up and wages going down
Mums and kids abandoned and men upon the dole
And people sleeping rough at night in some forsaken hole.
Certainly life within our town is very, very tough
Should we just consider food cupboard is enough?
Snug within our fellowship, we watch the world go by
Sometimes in my inmost thoughts I start to wonder why?
