A Sonnet on Life

As a child I was smothered in love
In a home where Jesus held sway
I believed in a God up above
And thought I never would stray.
When I left home as a youth
I was tempted by so many things
Sure I still harboured the truth
But forgot the joy following brings
Then came the thrill of my life
God found me a wonderful wife
A lifetime of love we all see
For the whole of our family
God’s love fills all of our days
We’re content to just follow his ways
