I am self indulgent in many, many ways
And, I must confess it, have been all my days!
I’m not into gambling, or drugs, or alcohol
So I may consider my faults are very small!
Another piece of chocolate won’t do any harm
And another coffee has a certain charm!
I may have great pity for other people’s faults
While my fickle conscience is doing somersaults!
I have this nice persona I like the world to see
And hide the dark and murky bits that are a part of me!
Lord grant that I may recognise that I am just a sinner
And, that as Your follower, I am a beginner
