"No man is an island", or so the poets say
We live in our relationships each, and every day.
Sometimes they are loving and we feel so blessed
For that loving feeling just has to be the best.
Sometimes they are lukewarm and hardly worth a thought
But we can make them closer and surely then we ought.
Sometimes they are stormy and can be a strain
But with lots of effort they can be restored again.
Sometimes they are broken quite beyond repair
And can often lead to heartache and even to despair.
That is when we need a friend to lift our spirit high
But there may not be an ally who is living nigh.
Thankfully we have a God who longs to be our friend
And He is always with us right until the end!
